Guild of Online Editors and Publishers of Nigeria GOMEP, has scheduled a high powered delegation of it’s national leadership on a courtesy visit to a renowned legal luminary and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Dr. Monday Ubani.
The delegation is set to be led by Comr. Akpovoke Otiti, the National President of the body amongst other National Officers to Umuahia, the Abia State capital, with the aim to honour Dr. Ubani, for his unwavering commitment to justice, the rule of law, and the protection of civil liberties in Nigeria.
According to a statement issued by GOMEP, the association considers Dr. Ubani, a courageous advocate whose principled stance on national issues, integrity, and dedication to the legal profession have earned him widespread respect across the country.
Speaking ahead of the visit, Comr. Otiti described the respected Senior Advocate as a voice for justice and a defender of the rights of ordinary Nigerians, noting that his contributions to the advancement of democracy and good governance remain invaluable.
He stated that the visit would provide an opportunity for GOMEP, to formally appreciate Dr. Ubani’s years of service to humanity and his steadfast advocacy for fairness, equity, and constitutionalism.
GOMEP President, further disclosed that the delegation would engage in discussions on issues bordering on media freedom, democratic accountability, and the role of responsible journalism in strengthening Nigeria’s democratic institutions, expressing confidence that the interaction would foster stronger collaboration between the media and the legal profession in promoting justice, transparency, and national development.
Dr. Monday Ubani, SAN, is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most leading voices on civil rights, constitutional democracy, and legal reforms, having distinguished himself through decades of dedicated service to the nation.
