Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, has paid a courtesy visit to the palace of His Royal Majesty Obi (Prof.) Epiphany Chigbogu Azinge, SAN, OON, the Asagba of Asaba, as part of ongoing stakeholder engagements to deepen police‑community collaboration.
The visit, conducted in line with directives from the Inspector‑General of Police on community partnership and inclusive policing, saw CP Oyeniyi expressing gratitude to the royal reception and long‑standing support since he assumed duty. He reiterated the Nigeria Police Force core mandate which is to protect lives and property and pledged that the Delta Command would continue to carry out that duty professionally, while maintaining firm disciplinary mechanisms to ensure accountability among personnel.
In a statement released by SP. Bright Edafe, Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Command, on June 1, 2026, CP Oyeniyi, assured that the command committed to working closely with the palace, community leaders and other stakeholders to reduce crime across Asaba and the state. He emphasized that effective policing depends on cooperation, trust and timely exchange of information between the police and the communities they serve.
In his response, the Asagba congratulated CP Oyeniyi, on his appointment and assured the commissioner of the palace’s continued support and cooperation. He praised the productive relationship enjoyed with previous commissioners and expressed readiness to collaborate with the new command to advance peace and security in the kingdom.
“Peace is the greatest industry in Asaba, and we are prepared to do everything to keep it that way,” the Asagba said, urging greater emphasis on community policing, intelligence sharing and active local participation as the best way to address crime. The meeting also discussed prevailing security concerns in the kingdom, strategies to enhance public safety, and measures to strengthen ties between the police and residents.
