Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial District, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s tough economic decisions, predicting that Nigerians will soon reap the rewards despite their unpopularity.
Giving his remarks as Guest of Honour at the Third Edition of the Advocate Newspapers Lecture Series held at Wetland Hotel in Ughelli, Dafinone acknowledged the economy’s imperfections but expressed optimism.
“President Tinubu chooses to be unpopular while making these difficult decisions.
“Yes subsidy was removed, many other were not bold enough to that. He knew it will make him unpopular, yet he took such decisions to make Nigeria better.”
Dafinone assured that the benefits would materialize soon.
The third years’ theme of the Advocate Lecture Series “From Ballot to Patronage: Why Electoral Victory Fails to Deliver Good Governance in Nigeria,” comes amid preparations for the 2027 elections. Dafinone commended Advocate Newspapers Publisher, Mr. Shedrack Onitsha, for organizing the series, which fosters critical discourse on governance.
The event which attracted dignitaries from all works of life also attracts veterans journalists both from the print and electronic including Olorogun Abraham Ogbodo, former Editor of Guardian Newspaper, Olorogun Ochuko Orogun, Veteran Broadcaster, Comrade Michael Ikeogwu, former Delta State Council NUJ Council and many others.
