Senator Ede Dafinone has congratulated two prominent Urhobo legal practitioners, Jim Okodaso and Onome Okodiya, on their elevation to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), describing the honour as a proud moment for the Urhobo Nation, Delta State and Nigeria’s legal profession.
In a personally signed congratulatory statement, the Delta Central senator said their admission into the Inner Bar reflected their professional excellence, intellectual accomplishment, integrity and dedication to the administration of justice.
Dafinone said the achievement was not only a personal milestone for the new Senior Advocates but also evidence that Urhobo professionals could excel in demanding areas of national service. He noted that their elevation had brought honour to the Urhobo Nation, Delta State and the wider Nigerian legal profession.
“On behalf of the good people of Delta Central, I celebrate you both and pray for greater wisdom, strength and continued success as you serve the legal profession and our nation,” the senator said.
While celebrating the recognition, Dafinone reminded the new SANs that the rank carries responsibilities beyond personal achievement. He urged them to uphold the rule of law, strengthen public confidence in the judiciary and contribute to the fair administration of justice.
He described the legal profession as central to protecting citizens’ rights and sustaining democratic institutions, adding that integrity and dedication remain essential for lawyers entrusted with significant responsibilities.
Dafinone also said Okodaso and Okodiya’s success should inspire younger generations of Urhobo professionals, demonstrating the enduring value of diligence, discipline and integrity in the pursuit of excellence.
He expressed confidence that their experience and expertise would continue to contribute to the development of Nigeria’s legal profession and the advancement of justice.
