Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District in the 10th National Assembly, Senator Ede Dafinone, has declared that the massive turnout of supporters at the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign flag-off in Oleh, Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State, demonstrates the party’s growing political strength and its determination to secure victory in all five categories of elections in the state in 2027.
Dafinone, who stated this on Thursday while addressing journalists at the Oleh Township Stadium, said the overwhelming crowd at the campaign flag-off was a clear indication of the widespread acceptance of the APC across Delta State. He expressed confidence that the party would record a five-over-five victory in the forthcoming general elections, arguing that the performance of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the economic reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had strengthened public confidence in the ruling party.
The senator maintained that the economic reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration were beginning to yield tangible results, particularly in the areas of macroeconomic stability, exchange rate management and the prices of food and other essential commodities. According to him, the gradual stabilisation of the economy, coupled with the developmental achievements of the Oborevwori administration, would influence the political choices of Deltans in the 2027 elections.
Dafinone further attributed the relative stability of the naira and what he described as a significant improvement in Nigeria’s foreign reserves to the economic policies of the Federal Government. He noted that the country’s foreign reserve position had reached a level not witnessed in the past 18 years, describing the development as evidence that the administration’s economic reforms were producing positive results despite the initial difficulties experienced by Nigerians.
Speaking on the political atmosphere in Delta State, the lawmaker said the mammoth crowds recorded at the APC gatherings in Oleh and Ozoro had sent a strong message about the party’s grassroots support and organisational strength. He argued that the enthusiastic participation of party faithful, political leaders, women and youths suggested that opposition parties faced a difficult electoral contest, insisting that the APC’s performance record would remain its strongest campaign message.
However, Dafinone cautioned party leaders, stakeholders and supporters against complacency, stressing that the impressive turnout at political rallies shouldn’t make them go to bed and rest. “In this coming elections, we want to win with convincing figures, overwhelming that our opponents would have no reason to go to court”.
He urged APC faithful to remain vigilant, intensify grassroots mobilisation and sustain engagement with voters across communities, wards and polling units. According to him, the party must recognise that the electoral contest would not be concluded until votes were cast, counted and the results officially declared.
The Delta Central senator also commended the leadership of the Delta State APC for its commitment to an issue-based campaign, describing the decision to focus on governance, policies and performance as an appropriate approach to political engagement.
He encouraged party members to respond to what he described as unfounded criticisms from political opponents by presenting the administration’s record in infrastructure development, economic management and other areas of governance, rather than engaging in personal attacks or inflammatory political rhetoric.
Dafinone reiterated his confidence in the political direction of the APC in Delta State, maintaining that the combination of President Tinubu’s economic reforms, Governor Oborevwori’s developmental programmes and the party’s expanding grassroots structures would form the central pillars of its 2027 campaign.
He urged party leaders and supporters to sustain their unity, remain focused on voter mobilisation and ensure that the enthusiasm demonstrated at the Oleh campaign flag-off translated into effective participation in the forthcoming general elections.
