Senator Ede Dafinone has congratulated Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on receiving the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) “Christian Icon Award,” describing the honour as a testament to the governor’s exemplary leadership, humility and commitment to public service.
The award was conferred on Governor Oborevwori during CAN’s 50th-anniversary celebration at the National Christian Centre, Abuja. Dafinone said the recognition by Nigeria’s foremost Christian body reflected the governor’s dedication to faith, integrity, compassion and service to humanity.
In a congratulatory statement, the Delta Central senator said he was particularly delighted that Oborevwori’s leadership had continued to attract recognition beyond Delta State. He praised the governor’s commitment to peaceful coexistence, inclusive governance and the advancement of the people’s collective aspirations. Dafinone described the award as a source of pride for Delta State and the Urhobo people, noting that it affirmed the enduring values of responsible, people-oriented leadership.
The senator expressed confidence that the honour would strengthen the governor’s resolve to sustain the gains of his administration’s MORE Agenda, deepen unity among Deltans and implement policies that improve lives across the state.
He, however, said such recognition also carried a greater responsibility for the governor to remain steadfast in serving God and humanity.
On behalf of his family and the people of Delta Central Senatorial District, Dafinone wished Oborevwori divine wisdom, sound health, strength and grace to lead Delta State to greater heights of peace, prosperity and development.
