Two brothers belonging to different cult groups has clashed over leadership of family land leading to injury of an innocent person during a meeting in Delta community.
It was gathered that one of the suspects has beenĀ arrested by policemen attached to the Agbarha-Otor ‘B’ Division of the Delta State Police Command in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The arrested suspect who is currently being held at the ‘B’ Division is said to have sustained injuries during the incident but no life was lost, report had it.
Multiple sources from the community disclosed that trouble started over leadership position in their family lands, while another alleged that the fracas was as a result of ‘Deve’ collection and who becomes the CSO of the family lands in the community.
One of the source alleged that the victims from different cult groups have had fracas of who becomes the Chief Security Officer, CSO in their family lands affairs.
“The two brothers, one known as Awareness had a misunderstanding with his brother rival Erigga and in the process one male known as Calypso was injured.
“One of the victims had told the leaders of the family that non of them, Awareness and Erigga should be given any position but a neutral person should be appointed.
Immediately one of them made that statement, the other brother had to question his rival’s audacity to reveal his identity.
“The issues generated into fight between two brothers who are from different confraternity and one of the persons, Calypso who is allegedly innocent was injured in the process.
“To calm the situation, police from Agbarha B Division were drafted and one Calypso who was injured arrested and the matter was transferred to Ughelli Area Command.
“Currently the issues has been referred back to Agbarha Division and we are on it .”
Though the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, could not be contacted but a security source from the Ughelli Area Command confirmed the incident.
Efforts to contact the president general of Agbarha-Otor community, Chief Joseph Umudjere, was not successful as calls to his mobile line were not connected as at the time of filing this report.
