Operatives of the Delta State Police Command Eagle-Net Special Squad has on Saturday, arrested an armed robbery suspect with three cut to size guns while on Aberdeen patrol in Warri.
Force public relations officer in the, Bright Edafe in a press statement said the suspected who was on transit in a mini bus on sighting the police alighted from the bus and fled with the bag he was carrying.
His action according to the statement, drew suspicion and the operatives went after him, and the suspect on noticing that the Policemen were closing up on him, abandoned the said bag and escaped into a nearby river. But upon searching the bag, one locally made cut-to-size double barrel gun and one locally made short gun were recovered. Efforts are on to arrest the fleeing suspect.
In another development, Police operatives attached to Oghara police station led by the Divisional crime officer (DCO) while on stop and search duty along Ibori road Oghara in Ethiope East LGA, on October 5, intercepted one Famous Olotu ‘m’ age 35, and subjected the suspect to a search during which, one locally made cut-to-size gun loaded with one live cartridge was recovered from him. The suspect was immediately taken into custody and investigation is ongoing.
The Commissioner of Police Delta State, CP Ari Muhammed Ali, hiwever assured members of the public that the Command will leave no stone unturned in the fight against crime and criminality in the State. The CP has mandated all DPOS, and Tactical Commanders to sustain raids of criminal hideouts/black spots in their areas of responsibilities.
