Winner of the Nigeria Democratic Congress NDC, House of Representatives for Warri Federal Constituency in the just concluded party primaries in Delta State, Chief Comrade Sheriff Mulade, has slammed the political party with a lawsuit of N5 billion damages after the party’s decision to jettison the outcome of the party primaries for an unknown selection/appointment process.
The renowned peace and development advocate frowned at the party’s decision to neglect the popular decision and voice of party members to impose an unknown candidate over the winner of the primary.
Mulade, a notable Chief of the Ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom and human rights activist, who won the NDC party primary for the Warri Federal Constituency House of Representatives expressed deep surprise and shock over the party’s sudden adoption of selection/appointment of candidate based on highest bidder nomination form sales.
The environmentalist said, “We were taken aback by the newly registered party, the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC which many Nigerians considered to be a saviour and messiah to address and tackle the numerous challenges confronting our dear nation Nigeria but little did we know that NDC vehicle we boarded was mainly for what looks more like placeholders, gambling with Nigerians’ future.”
He noted that he respected and hold the leadership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress NDC, particularly the National Leader, His Excellency, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, in a high esteem, but said the leadership seemed to have been overwhelmed and submerged by resources from certain Nigerians with deliberate intention in the guise of donations, contributions and party nomination form sales.
“NDC cannot adopt such an unspeakable level to appoint a flagbearer when a winner has emerged from a lawfully and valid conducted party primaries.
“It is imperative to state that Nigerians are tired of political parties that continue to gamble and trick Nigerians in every election circle. Our political party will be purpose-driven with genuine ideologies to salvage and develop the nation for the betterment of its citizenry if there is an independent candidature”, he lamented.
He strongly urged and appeal to the party leadership to kindly retrace its integrity, by doing the right thing if the party is interested in winning elections in 2027. NDC, as a party, is at the threshold of history, to redeem it’s image across the nation,
” I want to strongly believe that NDC vehicle for 2027 general elections is not intended as “one chance” for many Nigerians, but a veritable political vehicle designed for salvaging our battered country”, he added.
