Special Assistant to Delta State Government on Youth Development, Prince Sony Jifas Ogbon on Tuesday, September 19, flagged off the distribution of books, learning and teaching materials to primary schools in Ughelli South local government area of the state.
His efforts according to him, is to compliment the good work of the state governor, Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, who has prioritize education among others and establishing 22 new Primary and Secondary Schools in the state.
Prince Sony Jifas Ogbon who was warmly received by pupils and teachers at the different primary schools visited in Ughelli South and Ethiope East where he donated books, biro and other learning materials to pupils, especially indigent pupils, said it has become part of his life and promise that he will continue to support as long as God give him life.
He said; “It is not a new program, i have been doing it for some years now, but this year is very significant as the Delta State Governor, His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has set the ball rolling by establishing 22 new schools, in which my local government, Ughelli South is a beneficiary.
So I am even excited doing this and seeing the pupils happy, gives me joy, he added.”
Prince Sony Jifas Ogbon, also commended the state government for his vision and for stepping up the standard and quality of education in the state.
He called on good spirited individuals who are moved with the development agenda of the governor to come out and support the his agenda which he said will benefit both Deltans and non Deltans.
Expressing her joy and gratitude, Head teacher, Etako Primary School, Okpare-Olomu, Ms. Okpako Victoria, expressed gratitude to the donor, noting that at the inception of every new academic sessions, teachers and pupils are always hopeful to receive Prince Sony Jifas Ogbon learning materials which he always doled out to pupils and teachers.
A pupil who received note books, biro, and other learning materials, Esiri Michael thanked Prince Sony Jifas Ogbon for the kind gesture, adding that the donor act of generosity will spur him to concentrate more in his studies and prayed God to grant him long life and prosperity.
Meanwhile, Hon. Prince Jifas disclosed that the exercise continues as he cannot visit all the schools in Ughelli South and Ethiope East Local Governments in a day.
