Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial District, has described teachers as the architects of Nigeria’s future, praising their dedication and sacrifices in shaping the nation’s younger generation.
Dafinone, in a message marking World Teachers’ Day, said no nation could rise above the quality of its education system, stressing that teachers remained central to the development of responsible citizens and national leaders.
He said teachers contributed far beyond classroom instruction by moulding character, inspiring ambition and equipping young people with the values, confidence and skills needed to confront future challenges.
According to him, the classrooms are places where dreams are nurtured and the foundations for responsible citizenship, community development and national progress are established.
The senator noted that behind every accomplished professional, entrepreneur, public servant and national leader was the influence of a teacher.
He therefore called for greater investment in the welfare, dignity and professional development of teachers, describing such investment as crucial to the future of Nigeria.
Dafinone urged stakeholders to address the challenges confronting the teaching profession through improved working conditions, better remuneration, continuous professional development and the provision of modern teaching tools.
He also called for the creation of a conducive environment that would enable teachers to perform their duties effectively and give every child the quality education they deserve.
“To every teacher across Delta Central, particularly those serving with dedication despite difficult circumstances, I salute your resilience and commitment,” he said.
The senator, on behalf of his family and the people of Delta Central Senatorial District, wished teachers a happy World Teachers’ Day, expressing optimism that the lives they shape today would become the strength, leadership and prosperity of Nigeria tomorrow.
