The Guild of Online Media Editors and Publishers of Nigeria (GOMEP-NG) has lauded the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, for the establishment of the Uche Nnenna Terminal, describing the landmark project as a strategic intervention that is advancing financial inclusion, stimulating economic activities and creating sustainable employment opportunities for residents of the state.
The commendation followed a working visit by the leadership of GOMEP-NG to the Uche Nnenna Terminal, where members of the delegation undertook an on-the-spot assessment of the facility and its operations.
Speaking after the visit, the National President of GOMEP-NG, Comrade Akpovoke Otiti, expressed delight at the scale of activities at the terminal, noting that the Guild was particularly impressed by the large number of able-bodied youths and women gainfully engaged at the facility.
According to him, the terminal has become a major employment hub, providing meaningful livelihoods for hundreds of residents while contributing significantly to the economic transformation agenda of the Abia State Government.
“The Uche Nnenna Terminal is more than a modern financial and commercial facility. It is a practical demonstration of Governor Alex Otti’s commitment to inclusive economic development, youth empowerment, women’s economic participation and job creation. The number of young people and women working here is a clear indication that the project is making a tangible impact on the lives of Abians,” he said.
GOMEP-NG further commended Governor Otti for naming the terminal after Uche Nnenna, describing the honour as a fitting recognition of a courageous and determined woman whose unwavering commitment and sacrifices contributed immensely to the struggle that ushered in a new era of leadership and renewed hope in Abia State.
The Guild noted that recognising individuals who have played significant roles in the advancement of good governance serves as an enduring inspiration for citizens to remain committed to selfless service, integrity and the pursuit of societal progress.
While reaffirming its support for initiatives that promote economic growth and social development, GOMEP-NG urged governments at all levels to invest in people-centred projects capable of expanding financial inclusion, creating employment opportunities and improving the living standards of Nigerians.
The Guild maintained that the Uche Nnenna Terminal stands as a testament to visionary leadership, innovation and purposeful governance, expressing confidence that its long-term impact would continue to strengthen Abia’s economy while empowering thousands of youths and women across the state.
