The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Guwor Emomotimi Dennis, says the 8th Assembly has spent its third year strengthening lawmaking, oversight, and partnership with the executive to support development across the state.
He gave the remarks during a press briefing in Asaba to mark the Assembly’s third anniversary.
Guwor said the House has passed several bills and approved key financial and governance measures, including the 2026 Appropriation Law and the Delta State Revenue Service Bill. He added that the legislature also screened and confirmed nominees for state agencies and approved audit reports for the state, local governments, and oil-producing areas.
Guwor further highlighted the creation of a Post-Legislative Scrutiny Department, describing it as a major step toward tracking how laws are implemented and improving accountability. The Speaker said Delta is now the second state in Nigeria to establish the unit, after Oyo State.
Guwor also pointed to what he called strong collaboration with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration, saying the relationship has supported infrastructure growth, staff welfare, and legislative reforms.
He thanked colleagues, staff, and the media for their roles in the Assembly’s work and pledged continued support for people-focused laws and oversight.
