A violent confrontation between members of the Aiyes Confraternity and Vikings cult groups in Aladja Community, Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, has reportedly left two people feared dead.
The conflict, which erupted on Friday, November 28, according to sources, was linked to Yahoo (Internet fraud) business, escalated unchecked as some members of the Aladja Community Security Task Force hesitated to seek the intervention of the Nigeria Police and the army.
Sources alleged that despite tensions, local vigilantes has failed to resolved the violence thereby raising concerns about the effectiveness of community security in handling cult-related disturbances.
The situation remains tense as calls grow louder for the Police to take over the matter and prevent further loss of life.
As at the time of filing this report, it was unclear if the matter has been reported to the police or the army for prompt intervention.
