The African Democratic Congress (ADC) House of Representatives candidate for Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency of Delta State, Dr. Preston Ohwodo, has pledged to make youth employment and community security the central pillars of his legislative agenda if elected in 2027.
Dr. Ohwodo, who blamed the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for impoverishing the constituency, noted that meaningful progress cannot be achieved while many able-bodied young people remain jobless, hungry and abandoned.
“There is hunger in the land. Unemployment, poor infrastructure and insecurity have ravaged the constituency, and residents continue to struggle for a living.” Dr. Ohwodo maintained that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is the only party that has given the youths a platform that encourages them to offer a credible alternative, describing unemployment and insecurity as “two sides of the same crisis,” arguing that lasting peace would require economic opportunities, skills development and responsive representation.
In a statement, the ADC candidate said he would use his position at the National Assembly to attract federal interventions in job creation, invest in education, organise meaningful vocational training, and support small-scale businesses, agriculture and digital skills acquisition.
He promised that, if elected, young people in Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency would have sustainable pathways into productive work and enterprise, as they deserve more than occasional empowerment handouts.
“Our youths are not lazy. What they lack are opportunities, mentorship, capital and access to the right networks,” Ohwodo said.
He called on the good people of Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency to support his ambition, which he said is focused on liberating the constituency from mere noise-making and fake political promises.
