Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Delta State, Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru, has charged members of the party to demonstrate greater commitment, unity and togetherness, stressing that the task ahead is bigger than individual interests.
Ogboru gave the charge at the weekend while receiving a delegation of members of the defunct Legacy ADC executive in Delta Central, led by the senatorial leader, into the present ADC political structure.
Addressing the delegation at his country home in Abraka, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, Ogboru said the time had come for total reconciliation, unity and collective action among members of the party.
He noted that the political task ahead required members to put personal interests aside and work collectively towards building a stronger ADC capable of mobilising the people for victory in 2027.
According to him, unity, commitment and cooperation remain critical to the party’s efforts to challenge the ruling political establishment in Delta State.
While appreciating the Legacy ADC delegation for their visit and decision to realign with the current political structure, Ogboru said their return came at an appropriate time.
The ADC governorship candidate appealed to party members to embrace peace, unity and togetherness, urging opposition forces to remain steadfast, united and resolute if the party is to achieve its objective in the 2027 elections.
Ogboru said: “I want to encourage the returning members to feel free to access my office and make serious efforts towards their full reintegration into the party structure. We must put the past behind us.
“I also want to advise you to focus on bringing more Legacy members who are yet to return into the fold. As we do this, we are also mobilising voters for the success of the party in the forthcoming general elections.
“As a member of the Delta State Legacy ADC and one of the early adopters of the current ADC leadership and coalition, I am delighted to see my brothers and sisters realigning their political interests with the present ADC family.”
He urged the returning members to actively participate in the party’s activities and contribute their experience, networks and political energy towards strengthening the ADC ahead of 2027.
