Delta State — Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, CFR, KSJI, the former Deputy President of the 9th Senate and Obarisi of Urhoboland, has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the senator’s office announced on Wednesday.
In a resignation letter addressed to the Chairman of Orogun Ward 2, Ughelli North Local Government Area, Omo-Agege said the decision follows a review of recent developments within the APC in Delta State and consultations with his associates and supporters. He said those conversations convinced him that his political objectives and the interests of his constituents in Delta Central would be better advanced outside the party.
“I will not remain a sitting duck in a party where I cannot advance the interests of Delta Central, Delta State and Nigeria,” he wrote, according to a statement from his media office.Omo-Agege expressed gratitude to the APC for the opportunity to serve as Deputy Senate President and has requested that his name be removed from all party membership records, registers and communication lists. He said he will continue to focus on delivering development and effective representation for Delta Central, Delta State and the country, but will now pursue those goals outside the APC.

The resignation was signed by Sunday Areh, Media Adviser to Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.
