Delta State Police Command operatives pulled off back-to-back triumphs, rescuing a kidnapped woman from kidnappers’ clutches amid a fierce shootout and arresting a gun-wielding robber who snatched ₦600,000 from a POS operator.
Kidnap Victim Freed After Firefight:
Acting on intelligence about the March 12 abduction of a 27-year-old woman from Ibusa Community—held at a building site by Obosi River along Ibusa/Ogwashiku Road—Commissioner of Police CP Aina Adesola deployed the Command’s Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber-Crime Squad.
On March 19 at around 3:00 p.m., squad commander-led operatives tracked the hideout. Kidnappers unleashed gunfire, but police superiority forced them to flee, abandoning the victim unharmed. She received treatment at a general hospital. A manhunt continues.
Robbery Suspect Caught Red-Handed:
In a separate raid on March 18 at 9:30 a.m., Owa-Oyibu Division police responded to a distress call from Uwalade Street off Pipeline, Boji Boji Owa. Suspect Sunday Blessing and accomplices had hit a POS stand at Diffrey Road by Ebu Owa Market at 7:45 a.m., fleeing with ₦600,000 at gunpoint.
Operatives swiftly nabbed Blessing; a locally fabricated Beretta pistol was recovered. He remains in custody as investigations proceed.
Police spokesperson SP Bright Edafe,hailed the teams’ rapid response, vowing continued crackdowns on crime.
