The Delta State Police Command announced on Sunday that its officers arrested five suspects in two separate operations last week and recovered a locally made revolver pistol and ten bags of substances suspected to be Indian hemp.

Police said the first operation occurred on 30 May, 2026, at about 0530hrs when a surveillance team attached to the Asaba Area Command intercepted three men behind the NTA Asaba compound during a routine patrol. The suspects were identified as Musa Sule, (22) Moses Sunday, (26) and Osama Ibrahim, (25).

The arrests and recoveries were confirmed in a press release issued by
According a statement confirmed by the command’s spokesperson, SP. Bright Edafe, on 31 May, 2026, disclosed that officers conducted a search on reasonable suspicion and recovered a locally made revolver pistol and other dangerous weapons. The three men were arrested and taken into custody as investigations continue.
In a separate intelligence-led stop-and-search on 29, May at about 0400hrs, operatives of the State Anti-Kidnapping Unit (SAKU) intercepted an ash-coloured Mercedes-Benz station wagon (registration BEN 982 TE) along the Onitsha-Benin Expressway.
The vehicle, police said, was occupied by Hilary Aloma and Oki Joseph, also known as “Big Joe.” A thorough search uncovered ten bags containing substances suspected to be Indian hemp, reportedly concealed inside the car.
Preliminary inquiries indicate the consignment was being moved from Edo State to Awka in Anambra State. Both suspects were arrested and the exhibits secured as evidence while investigators work to determine the full extent of the suspected trafficking network and identify other accomplices.
Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, praised the operatives for their vigilance and professionalism and warned that anyone involved in unlawful possession of firearms, drug trafficking, cult-related activities or other criminality would face the full weight of the law.
