Delta State Police have convicted 23 motorists after a coordinated enforcement operation that saw 26 vehicles impounded and taken before a state provided mobile court at Asaba.
The exercise, launched across the state under the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, targets traffic offences that endanger road users and disrupt orderly movement. Officers arrested 26 vehicles for various violations and brought the drivers before the mobile court for immediate adjudication.
By the close of proceedings, 23 offenders were found guilty and fined according to the severity of their offences, while three were discharged and acquitted. The convictions underscores the command’s push for lawful, transparent enforcement to improve road safety.
Commissioner of Police for Delta State, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, reiterated that the campaign will be sustained across the state and warned that motorists who flout traffic laws will continue to face legal sanctions. He also urged drivers to keep vehicles properly registered and documented and to observe traffic regulations at all times.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, issued the statement on 20 June 2026 from the Delta State Command in Asaba.
