Chaos erupted at Afiesere Primary School in Ughelli North Local Government Area, venue of of the African Democratic Party meeting, yesterday, when allege suspected All Progressives Congress (APC) thugs stormed the venue sparking a fierce confrontation that left furniture in ruins and party members scrambling for safety.
Eyewitnesses described the attackers arriving in “commando style,” smashing chairs and tables during the gathering. While many ADC supporters fled the scene, a determined group fueled by frustration over Nigeria’s escalating economic hardships stood firm and pushed back against the intruders.
“The hardship is too much; we won’t let them silence us,” an ADC member told reporters afterward, insisting the meeting had been peaceful until the invasion. Sources say the ADC faithful quickly regrouped, overpowering several assailants and forcing the rest to flee.
Supporters decried the incident as blatant political intimidation, vowing it won’t deter their democratic rights to assemble freely. No arrests were reported, and officials from both parties remained unreachable for comment.
