Renowned United Nations Peace ambassador and environmental rights campaigner, Dr. Mulade Blessing Sheriff, has pledged to restore unity, peace and development across Warri Federal Constituency if elected to the House of Representatives in 2027.
Speaking at his official campaign flag-off and consultation meeting, the National Democratic Party (NDP) candidate promised to be a “voice for the voiceless” and to attract federal attention and investment to the oil-rich constituency. Sheriff, who holds the traditional title Ibe-Sorimowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom, said poor representation has left Warri deprived Warri tyof meaningful development despite its economic contribution to the nation.
“If elected, Warri City and its environs will receive special attention through constructive advocacy and engagement with all relevant stakeholders,” he said. Sheriff listed priorities including resuscitation of the Warri and Koko seaports, development of the Warri Industrial Park, and programs to create jobs for youth and women through agriculture, fishery and skills training.
Mulade appealed directly to the constituency’s major ethnic groups, the Ijaw, Itsekiri and Urhobo , urging residents to set aside ethnic divisions in favor of broad-based cooperation. “We cannot continue to fight ourselves or deprive ourselves,” Mulade said, adding that his campaign is built on inclusion and practical solutions rather than political showmanship, describing himself as an independent, original voice committed to “quality people‑oriented and inclusive representation” and emphasized collaboration with local, state and federal authorities to deliver development and empowerment across the constituency.
Mulade concluded by asking for the support of Warri indigenes and residents as he seeks to translate his peace‑building and environmental advocacy background into tangible development outcomes at the federal level.
