With the year 2025 ending on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, and raising the curtain for the year 2026, Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial District, has sent a powerful message of optimism to his constituents, declaring that the new year holds the promise of significant economic recovery and developmental milestones for the Urhobo Nation.
In a New Year’s press statement, the lawmaker acknowledged the challenges of the past but emphasized that the tides are turning. Reflecting on the journey so far, Dafinone noted that while the senatorial district is yet to reach its ultimate destination, the progress made in 2025, provides a solid foundation for the future.
”We may not yet be exactly where we aspire to be as a people, but we are certainly not where we used to be,”

While praising the industriousness of the Urhobo people, Dafinone, thanked and encouraged the farmers, traders, and artisans in rural communities. He urged them to remain focused on their traditional occupations and local businesses, describing them as the vital engines of the Delta Central prosperity. Dafinone further stressed on the importance of political collaboration, noting that the current alignment between the Delta State Government and the Federal Government is a “unique opportunity” to accelerate infrastructure and human capital development. The Senator pledged to act as a bridge-builder, working hand-in-hand with both the State Governor and federal authorities to ensure that Delta Central receives its fair share of the national cake.
”I remain committed to working closely with the Delta State Governor and the Federal Government as partners to ensure that what is due to Delta Central is fully delivered and that development reaches every part of Delta Central,” he assured.
Senator Dafinone, also predicted that 2026 would out do 2025, by bringing more inclusion and tangible benefits to the people based on current economic indicators. He called for unity and a forward-thinking mindset among the Urhobo people, adding that it will be more favorable if the Urhobo Nation embraces the year 2026 with positivity, describing 2026 as a year for “progress, inclusion, and renewed hope.
