As we navigate the complexities of modern security challenges, it has become increasingly clear that forest security is a critical component of national security. In Delta State, the National Forest Security Service (NFSS) has taken a proactive approach to addressing the security challenges facing our forests. With advanced training and equipment, the NFSS is well-positioned to tackle the sophisticated crimes that have plagued our forests for years.
The men on the ground, led by Jonathan Obokohwemu, Delta State Commander; Ebube Nwanne Jegbefume, DOF Administration; Ese Orji, DCF; and Odili Amechi Og, Squad Commander, are fully determined to rid Delta’s forests of criminals and restore a safe environment. Their commitment to protecting the state’s natural resources and ensuring the security of local communities is commendable.

The NFSS’s collaboration with the Delta State Police Command under the leadership of CP Olufemi Abariwonder is a clear testament to the potential for enhanced security and development in the state. Governor Oborevwori’s administration has prioritized security and development, creating a conducive environment for forest security. By supporting the NFSS, Governor Oborevwori can contribute to a more secure and prosperous future for Delta State.

The NFSS’s massive recruitment drive, with approximately 130,000 personnel being recruited nationwide, is a welcome development. This will not only enhance forest security but also provide employment opportunities for thousands of Nigerians. In Delta State, this recruitment drive will significantly address unemployment and boost agricultural productivity, leading to improved food security and economic growth.
A secure forest ecosystem will have numerous benefits, including enhanced biodiversity conservation, increased agricultural productivity, improved food security, job creation, and economic growth, reduced crime and criminality, and preservation of natural resources.

In conclusion, forest security in Delta State is a critical step towards protecting lives and natural resources. With the NFSS’s advanced training and equipment, it is well-positioned to address the security challenges facing our forests. We urge the Delta State Government to continue supporting the NFSS and provide the necessary logistics and operational ambience to enable them to effectively tackle the security challenges facing our forests. By doing so, Governor Oborevwori can contribute to a more secure and prosperous future for Delta State.
