The Guild of Online Media Editors and Publishers (GOMEP) Nigeria has announced a scheduled two-day official visit to Anambra State, as part of its 2025 media project assessment tour.
The visit, which runs from Friday, June 27 to Saturday, June 28, 2025, will also feature the presentation of award to the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR.
This development was made known in a press statement issued on Monday, by Comrade Dominic Edem, National Spokesperson of GOMEP and Publisher of Naija News House. He revealed that the visit is in line with the Guild’s commitment to advancing professional journalism, promoting transparent governance, and holding leaders accountable through independent media assessments.
According to Edem, Anambra State was selected for the tour based on its consistent high performance in governance and transparency. The Guild, comprising over 65 accredited online media editors and publishers across Nigeria, has identified the state as a focal point for its Governance Accountability and Transparency Index (GATI) 2025 evaluation.
“Anambra State stands out as one of the top three most performing states in Nigeria,” Edem stated. “The 2024 GATI Report awarded the state an Exceptional Performance (EP) rating, with an impressive Average Index Point of 86.3. This year’s tour will enable us to verify and document developments across critical sectors.”
The tour will cover selected projects executed by the Soludo administration, with editors engaging community stakeholders, media professionals, and government officials to ascertain the impact of governance on citizens. Findings from the field assessment will inform the 2025 GATI Report, set for release later in the year.
GOMEP further disclosed that the highlight of the two-day mission will be the formal presentation of a governance excellence award to Governor Soludo in recognition of his administration’s strides in accountability, service delivery, and infrastructural development.
It would be recalled that in 2024, GOMEP nominated Governor Soludo alongside nine other state governors for the GATI Governance Performance Award, following their respective states’ rankings in the national report. Anambra’s consistent performance has continued to draw national attention.
GOMEP reaffirmed its objective to promote credible governance through factual, data-backed media evaluations. “Our mission is to spotlight and reward transparency while ensuring that public office holders are held to high standards of integrity and service,” Edem concluded.
