The Delta State Police Command has launched a major crackdown on criminal activities across the state, resulting in the dismantling of a cybercrime “den” and the arrest of 34 suspected fraudsters, alongside the capture of armed robbery suspects.
The operations, conducted over the weekend, highlight the command’s shift toward intelligence-led policing under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi John Oyeniyi.

Collins Arrey, stormed a residential apartment in Opete that had been converted into a sophisticated internet fraud base. The raid was triggered by a distress call from a woman who claimed her younger brother was being held hostage and forced to perform cybercrimes. Police detectives immediately responded, and upon entering the premises, they discovered an organized network and arrested 34 young suspects.
37 Laptops, 7 Mobile phones, 1 iPad and a calabash containing suspected charms. Authorities are currently investigating the scope of the syndicate’s operations and the allegations of forced labor.

In a similar incident on March 29, 2026, patrol officers on the Ogbolu/Illah Road intercepted a suspicious tricycle (Keke) conveying two passengers, approaching a police check point, one of the passenger jumped from the keke and fled into the bush. He was chased by the police but the suspect attempted to fight off officers with a wooden club but was eventually subdued. A search of the tricycle revealed a locally fabricated cut-to-size gun loaded with two live cartridges.
The police identified the suspects as Mustapha Musa, (32) from Kogi State.
