Delta State Police Commissioner Aina Adesola, on February 11, 2026, gathered top brass of the force including Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Commanders alongside key community players including Man O War, Anti-Cult Units, Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security Service, Tropical Human Rights, Anioma Security Watch, and local vigilante groups for a strategic security conference, vowing to crush crime and protect residents..
The strategic conference also aimed at assessing the state’s security landscape, boost coordination, and solidify partnerships between police and grassroots outfits.
CP Adesola in his opening remarks thanked the vigilantes and volunteers for their frontline intel and safety efforts. He drew a firm line on firearms handling, stating that only the Nigeria Police Force can authorize such for vigilantes without exceptions.
“Vigilante operations stay under police oversight,” he declared. Patrols, suspect handling, everything coordinates through local DPO’s for full accountability. The CP also warned that vigilantes cannot hold anyone.
