Renowned Delta State woman journalist Chief Mrs. Oghenero Efenure Omatseye, has thrown her hat into the ring to contest the councilorship seat in Ethiope East Local Government Area Ward 8, promising to leverage her media expertise for grassroots development.
Efenure, a print journalist and community advocate, made her intention when she consulted top political leaders and stakeholders across the Ward and local government.
Chief Efenure declaration draws cheers from supporters who sees her as a fresh voice for change.
“After years of reporting on the people’s struggles, it’s time to step from the sidelines into the arena to deliver real solutions,” she declared, emphasizing her commitment to transparent governance.
With over two decades in journalism, including stints at major Delta media outlets, Efenure has covered local politics, health, and education beats, earning her integrity amongst colleagues. She outlined priorities like improved roads, youth empowerment programs, and better healthcare access in Ward 8, which spans rural communities facing infrastructure deficits.
“I will bridge the gap between the people and their leaders, using my platform to amplify Ward 8’s needs.
Councilorship position is not a gift to one individual but a means to reach the grassroot to know their needs and provide same”.
She called on constituents to support her bid and try a fresh hand that is well exposed and understands he dynamics of local politics.
