…One month mourning period declared in honour of late King

The traditional of the ancient Olomu kingdom, HRM Ovie Macaulay Popo Ovbagbedia, JP, Uhurhie-Osadjere II, The Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom, has joined his ancestors.

The transition of the traditional ruler who ascend the throne on May 20, 2023, was officially announced at the palace of the monarch at Ovwor-Olomu community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.
The announcement was made known by the Otota of the Ancient Olomu kingdom, Olorogun Albert Akpomudje, (SAN) flanked by members of Olomu traditional council of chiefs as well as children and family members of the late monarch.
The announcement of his demise was heralded by the traditional Ema dancers with 21 cannon shots in honour of the late king.

With the announcement, all markets in the kingdom remain closed, as there will be no burial and marriage celebration, while stores are only permitted to be open for partial transactions.

Also, as part of the mourning process, the kingdom has declared a one month mourning period with effects from July 12, to August 12, 2025, and all Olomu kingdom Chiefs are directed to wear a black ban on their left hands and not to put on the traditional Olomu Chieftancy red cap in honor of the late monarch.

A five minutes silence was observed in honor of the late Ohworode of Olomu kingdom who reign for two years.
