Executive Assistant to the Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Chief Edafevwotu Akpos has applauded the State Governor, Executive Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Area, Olorogun Jaro Egbo and the Agbarho monarch, HRM, Samson Owhe Ogugu, Osuivie of Agbarho kingdom for their prompt responses to the recent wave of children theft by suspected elements.
Recalled that the women from Agbarho kingdom in Ughelli North Local Government recently took to the streets protesting the theft of over Twenty-Six (26) children stolen by unknown persons between May 3, 2025 and June, 2025.
Chief Akpos who lamented the new trend of crime in the community, said he was optimistic that the quick intervention of Governor Oborevwori, Olorogun Jaro Egbo and the Agbarho king, will not only stem the menace in Agbarho kingdom and Ughelli North, but will bring an end to such nefarious act of in and around the Kingdom.
In a viral protest video, the protesting women accused the security agencies of turning deaf ear and a blind eye to the security challenges in Agbarho.
The commendation of Chief Akpos was handed down in a press statement signed by him and made available to newsmen at Agbarho shortly after the Governor’s fact-finding delegation to get first hand information of stealing of children left Agbarho on Saturday, June 7, 2027.
He called on parents to be vigilant about their children and wards, and appealed to the women of Agbarho to be calm. Chief Akpos further expressed his confidence on the state government, maintaining that those behind the heinous crime will definitely be brought to justice.
He disclosed that since the emergence of Olorogun Jaro Egbo as the Executive Chairman of Ughelli North Council Area, he has demonstrated his doggedness and commitment towards the fight against crime both at the rural and urban areas of the council, and how his people can sleep with two eyes closed.
He solicited the cooperation of security agencies, and well-meaning Ughelli North indigenes to collaborate with the chairman to win the fight against crime in the council area.
