…Vows To Wrestle Power From Bad Leaders, Attracts Development To Ughelli, Agbarho, Uwheru Clans
Ahead of the 2027 general elections, a stalwart of the All Progressive Congress APC, in Uwheru, Hon. Innocent Oghenevwairhe Umukoro, has declared his ambition to contest the Ughelli North Constituency II House of Assembly seat, vowing to change the narrative for the Ughelli, Agbarho, and Uwheru clans which he said have been so neglected by successive leaders.
Hon. Umukoro, who had vied for the seat in 2023 but alleged a fowl play, is a staunch and financial member of the APC in his Ward and Local Government. He berated the government failures in job creation, empowerments of the constituents, poor leadership, and representation which he said has contributed to a high level of unemployment and lack of appointment for sons indigenes of the three clans.
In his words, “Uwheru people are well educated and intelligent. We supported the government during elections and have been faithful to the party, yet, when the appointments are handed out, the sons and daughters of Uwheru, Agbarho, and Ughelli are nowhere to be found, but only met with silence.
“Very few or none of the Uwheru indigenes are given appointments or engaged by the government, adding that those elected to represent the people of the constituency II, are there to serve their selfish interests and family alone.”
He alleged that the seats of power had become mere tools for personal enrichment leaving the common man to navigate the ruins of neglected infrastructure and broken promises.
Umukoro, noted that his ambition is borne out of his love to serve his people and liberate the constituency from what he called slavery.
“My entering into the race is a mission of redemption as the will of the people has always been subverted by the shadows of ‘godfatherism’ even in 2023 when I contested the seat.
”I am here to wrestle power from those who have held it hostage come 2027 beginning with the primaries in this year 2026.” He said he was aware of the conspiracies of the old giants, but said the road to 2027 would be tough, and vowed not to bow to bad leadership.
